Ordinariate in Australia Expected by Pentecost

Will Include Former Anglicans of Japan
SYDNEY, Australia, JAN. 20, 2011 ( Members of the Traditional Anglican Communion in Australia who are seeking to enter the Catholic Church are planning for the establishment of an ordinariate by Pentecost.

The ordinariate, as stipulated in "Anglicanorum coetibus," will include at least 28 Anglican priests in Australia who have already expressed the desire to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.

The Traditional Anglican Communion is organizing a Feb. 26 festival at Holy Family Catholic Church in Como for those interested in learning about the ordinariate.

Anglican Bishop Harry Entwistle, one of four prelates in Australia who will seek ordination in the Catholic priesthood, noted that this festival aims to raise awareness that the ordinariate "is no longer just a theory; it"s really happening."

The festival speakers will include Auxiliary Bishop Peter Elliott of Melbourne, Holy See delegate for the Australian Ordinariate; Anglican Archbishop John Hepworth, primate of the Traditional Anglican Communion; Peter Gannon and Robert Andrew.

The new ordinariate will include a group of former Anglicans in Japan who are led by a retired prelate.
